Recipes? Mom's Best Cranberry Relish

There are many variations on the cranberry relish theme.  Mine is the 
same as Steve's except that I also add a bosc pear and some walnuts.  I 
cut down on the sugar, too, but that's because I don't like food that's 
oversweetened.

I despise the jellied cranberry sauce (I don't like any kind of 
jelly).  We only get the fresh relish recipe because I added it to the 
Thanksgiving menu.  However, both kinds must be served every year, and 
the jelly is much more popular (by a 3:1 ratio).  Only the fresh-food 
fanatics prefer the relish.
