Season two premiere of Supernatural this Thursday, and yeah, at least
one Winchester is going to hell, but before that happens, Winchester
incest... Mmm, yummy.

Standard disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm talking about. So if I'm
critical of a vid, it's not because I really know how to edit. I'll
comment on the vids I saw.

I have a headache from missing sleep and laughing.

Song Title/Vid Title: You've Got A Friend In Me
Artist: Lyle Lovett and Randy Newman
Vidder: wordplay
Characters: actors (Jared & Jensen)
http://community.livejournal.com/dean_sam/116070.html

The opening clip had me thinking 'Jolene, Jolene, Jolene'. {chuckle}
Those who saw the Lord King Bad Vids show at VVC 2006 may remember
Zoe's SGA vid, Jolene, and the 'ghosting' repetition. {g} Not a bad
vid, a couple rough cuts. Longer edits worked for the song's slow
pace.

Song Title/Vid Title: Don't Cha [Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me]
Artist: Pussycat Dolls
Vidder: cathybites
Characters: Sam and Dean (Wincest)
http://cathybites.livejournal.com/500073.html

Initially, I thought of Talitha's Smallville vid using this same song.
 I first saw Talitha's Don't Cha vid at VVC 2006... Possibly a
vidshow? Definitely at the SGA/SV room party. Very good vid :-), so
I had some fun memories entering into this vid and the SPN version
didn't let me down.

LOL, another keeper from cathybites. After watching Black Betty (SPN
Impala vid), this vidder has a good sense of timing, IMO, and you can
see it in this vid as well. Just to name a few instances of this:
Dean pointing to his head and then he looks down as the lyric says
'little situation', Sam pointing to Dean for the 'give me the number',
and Dean's pen-eating smile for 'hot like me'. The timing was on the
money, except for one stray frame around the 01:57-01:58 mark, and the
video seems darker in source. One problem with vidding SPN is that
many scenes are lacking good lighting for fan vids. Still a highly
entertaining vid, especially the ending credits. :-D Two thumbs up!

Song Title/Vid Title: At Last
Artist: Etta James
Vidder: Maygin
Characters: Sam and Dean (Jared and Jensen)
http://community.livejournal.com/supernaturalvid/232513.html

I've commented on the vids in the order I watched them. By the time I
finished watching this vid, I was laughing to the point I was starting
to cry. LOL! This is such a classic song and... {chuckle} pairing it
with Supernatural's Wincest. :-D Opening with the stripper!priests
and the heart-shaped gradient? So *wrong* but funny! Editing
followed the easy pace of this song, so scenes flowed well.

However, there were a few instances of the scenes lagging slighty
behind the lyric (e.g. the lyric starting while the fade to black was
still at full opacity) and another instance of the scenes being dark
in the lighting area. I got a new Dell LCD earlier this year with a
used nVidia Quadro FX video card, and while I usually have it set to
80% on brightness/contrast (eyesight going bye-byes and I don't like
bright lights), I've currently got the brightness boosted to 100%.
I've tried brighter and/or adjusting contrast but didn't seem too help
much, other than making me wince. {g}

Song Title/Vid Title: Time Turned Fragile
Artist: Motion City Soundtrack
Vidder: roday
Characters: Sam and Dean (possible Wincest)
http://community.livejournal.com/supernaturalvid/222989.html

Unfortunately, I really did not like this song and it'll bias me. The
frantic music and fight sequence as an opening scene and then cut to
wee!Sammy being cute? Sorry, looking at the lyrics, I can see why the
vidder chose it, but listening to the song... seemed chaotic for me.

Song Title/Vid Title: I Walk the Line
Artist: Johnny Cash
Vidder: Chiana
Characters: Sam and Dean
http://community.livejournal.com/supernaturalvid/230022.html

After seeing this song done to a March of the Penguins vid at VVC
2006, a penguin or *two* popped up in the back of my mind as I was
watching this. {g} Hm, I wasn't jiving with all the fade to blacks,
which I think may have increased the timing being off on some scenes
and its inclusion didn't seem to fit in areas. While I can see some
fades working, there were a few too many working against what could've
been a better vid, IMO. One of my favorite moments because it fit
with the music was Dean beating against the steering wheel as the
opening clip. It's a good song for SPN.
