Saw this article and it amused me because I was concerned about the car. {g}

"The show lives, first and foremost, in the relationship between the
two brothers," Kripke said. "We have always said that this isn't a
show about monsters; this is a show about family. We just feel there
is an endless wellspring of stories about these two guys and their
fights, their rivalries, their loves, their loyalties."
]]
Ah, even though they're bringing in actresses from Buffy and Veronica
Mars, it's good to know the Winchester brothers will be "bro's before
ho's".
[[
Of course, there is also a matter of their car. A vintage black 1967
Chevy Impala with ominously creaky doors, the Winchesters' car has
become so popular with viewers, it has a nickname ("Metallicar," in
honor of the Winchesters' love of heavy metal and mullet rock) and its
own category on the Web's Television Without Pity "Supernatural"
forum.
The last time we saw the Impala, it had just been smashed by the demon
trucker. And while there are still plenty of reasons to worry about
the new season of "Supernatural," the fate of Metallicar is not one of
them.
"Hilariously enough, that has been the No. 1 question about the show,"
the boyish Kripke said with a grin. "People seem to be moderately
concerned about whether the Winchesters will live or die, but they
really want to know whether the Impala will be back. And I can say,
I'm a bigger fan of the Impala than anybody, and I would never let
anything happen to that car."
]]
The Metallicar is spiffy looking (very well-maintained) and goes
zoom-zoom like the good, gas guzzling, American muscle car that it is.
I'm also amused by the blunt series summary this journalist provides:
[[
Padalecki and Ackles play Sam and Dean Winchester, who have followed
their elusive father into the paranormal business. Last year,
sensitive younger brother Sam and his wisecracking older brother were
on the trail of the demon that turned their mother into a human
fireball, then came back 20 years later to roast Sam's girlfriend.
In the season finale, the demon showed up in Daddy Winchester's body.
After the boys chased it out with an exorcism, the unstoppable spirit
procured a semi-truck, which it promptly drove into the Winchesters'
beloved Chevy Impala. With all three Winchesters in it.
]]
If ya gotta do a cliffhanger, then placing all your main characters
[and their car] in front of a semi to be crushed will certainly work.
