The "usual" gap between a book being finished and being available is 
closer to a year, so six months is pretty quick. Especially when you 
consider its length and massive print run. Actually, I suspect that 
the books *have* to be released during the summer, because if it was 
any closer to Christmas it would put too much strain on the industry 
as a whole. Scholastic didn't print enough copies of HBP, I think, 
and bought up almost every spare bit of publishing capacity in North 
America to make up the shortfall.

If anything, the film is piggybacking on the book.
