Olly now:
Because of the change of technology playing a new HD (read HD as HD-DVD 
or Blue Ray) disk on a current DVD player will not be possible, as the 
disk structure has changed to accommodate an improvement to video and 
audio quality.  However, you will probably be able to play current DVD 
disks in new HD players, just check to see if they support DVD disks.

Hopefully OoP will be released on DVD; as I am not yet prepared to buy a 
new player while there is no clear high-definition disk standard.
