Both could be used, they are used as synonyms.

Sticklers would prefer "repelled", claiming "repulsed" should be 
reserved for physical rather than psychological causes. "The soldiers 
stood their ground and repulsed the enemy's charge" e. g.

And sticklers would suggest you avoid passive voice: "Her suggestion 
repelled him".
