Are there really different versions??? I always just buy the ones at the
stores here or on amazon.com.... am I missing anything aside from
British-speak in the "adult" versions?

Subject: Re: [HPFGU-OTChatter] Ordering UK version to be sent to US -
advice?
Has anhone done this with past releaes? My copies of HP 1-6 are the UK
plain 'adult version' and I want to order 7 in the same.
I don't know exactly what anything costs from the UK site, but it
appears that the adult version is about 50% off, but 6-10 day shipping
costs almost as much as the book. 1-2 day shipping (which they say
will ship on 7/19) costs more than twice the amount of the book.
Truthfully, if it would be guaranteed to arrive, I'd pay the shipping.
But I hate to pay and not have it arrive for even a few days. Maybe I
should get slower shipping and order locally to tide myself over.
Anyone have any past experience with this?
Thanks,
Deb

Jeremiah:
I have the US & UK 1-6. The last few books, when released, I ordered both
and the UK came 7-10 days after the US edition. I found it useful because I
could read the US edition (sometimes twice) and have all the chats and
debates with friends and then the UK would come and something would be
phrased in a different way and then I could pull a "Hermione Granger" and be
superior for the day. LOL.
I'm in San Diego, CA and there's an independant shop here that will order
the UK edition for me. (I get the kids editions because I like the fun
artwork. Screw trying to make it all sophisticated... I'm reading a kid's
book. Am I wrong in thinking that the only difference between the kids and
adult editions are the covers?)
So, IMO, having both is a fantastic idea. I like the intrigue between the
two editions as far as wording and phrasing. Even the meter is different, as
usual when you "translate" anything.
Check for a local Sci-Fi/Horror/Mystery bookstore. They can be an amazing
resource and can offer you similar discounts on the titles you are looking
for. the one here in San Diego, CA is: Mysterious Galaxy. They have a
website:
http://mysteriousga
<http://mysteriousgalaxy.booksense.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp>
laxy.booksense.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp
They might know of one in your area. This one will order the UK edition...
and it's possible they will have it for me for the midnight release... but
I'm not holding my breath. I figure a 10 day period after the US release...
and that's ok with me.
(And, please, if there is a difference between the kids and adult HP series-
besides covers- let me know).
