I can't tell you which planned activities will be more fun, your
independent bookstore's, or Borders's. It all depends on the people
putting on the party. But either way, the party ends at midnight,
when everyone there lines up for their copy(ies) of the book and goes
home to read. And read. And read.
The Borders by me hands out numbered "tickets" beginning early in the
evening, and the earlier you get there, the lower your number, so the
sooner after midnight you get your book and get out of there. And,
there were *hundreds* of people there, so I imagine it took quite a
while to get to the last one.
I've never been to an indie bookstore's party, but to two different
chain store's parties, and they are not really much fun unless you
are there with friends. It seems I will be going to the Borders
party again this year, because all three of my kids want to go, but I
certainly hope to hang out with some of the other moms.
