I cannot believe it but I have made a circle cloak before...(five
kids and years of homemade halloween costumes I suppose)..
Now, the only cloak I made was out of some horribe fuzzy
fabric..however I went to the site you referenced..and I hope my
tips help...
I saw that they may a chalk line cirle.. I'm guessing you may have
issues with the length?
just lay the fabric out legnthwise(so as to accomodate your height
and girth)...next to each other(sew the panels of fabric together
(then the directions on the site you referenced should read a little
more clearer)--you'll probably want the width to be at least your
height--your height will approximately equal your finger tip to
finger tip measurement..so if you want the cloak to hide your hands
add however many inches you need of fabric before making said
line..time is short so you may or may not want to hem (esp. if you
are a DE..if your want a your dark mark to show...then sew large
loose stiches(over and under large spaces) along the line of your
forearm but before you cut said thread pull on the thread to gather
the folds of the fabric).
They do have measurements for an attached hood on said site...simply
use that as a guideline for your own hood (for a little bigger add
two inches...for more, place a basebball cap on your head and
measure from the tip of your spine(that place where neck bone meets
backbone) to the tip of the ball cap, and use those measuement to
measure it out on the fabric and cut accordingly. Do not worry that
the hood won't be large enough..it will be huge with baseball cap
standards.. and you can always fold back the extra.
I'm not a seamstress or fashion designer, these are just a couple of
tips I've learned over the years at making last minute costumes. I
hope my tips helped, if you're confused post again and I will try
to clarify.
(hope this helps)
