I humbly bow before you. Thank you. I try not to let
my perspective on anything become to polarized or
extreme.

The consensus seems to be that it is a fake photo, but
it makes me wonder what kind of porn collection the
faker has, to have had a photo on hand that would fit
with Dan's photo. Do you know what the odds are? Very
long I think.

As I said, I think there is an element of selfishness
in those who don't want Dan to move on. Keep in mind
even though Dan has made out and possibly made love
in 'December Boys', and has now appeared nude on stage,
Harry Potter is still Harry Potter, and Harry Potter
is still waiting his first kiss.
The greatest praise Dan received, in my opinion, was
from Christian Slater when he said that in that
critical of on stage nudity, Dan Radcliffe was lost.
Not lost as an actor, but lost as a person. The
character Alan Strang had taken over, and all he
could see was this disturbed boy. In the simplest
terms, he didn't see Dan Radcliffe naked, he saw Alan
Strang naked.
Though I should say that based on what most theater
critics said, the minute Dan appears on stage, Dan is
gone and it is totally Alan Strang from then on.
Hopefully, that is what Dan brings to Harry Potter too.
When the kiss comes, if Dan has done his job right, it
will be Harry getting kissed, not Dan.
I've said from the very beginning that the worst that
could happen from Dan taking the role in Equus, is
that he will come away a better actor. Everyone is
worried about the nudity, but, really, that's the easy
part; just take your clothes off. That hard part, and
I'm sure Richard Griffiths would agree, is dredging up
the emotion eight times a week for 16 weeks. Doing it
once is easy, doing it time and time again is difficult.
But that is theater, time and time again you reach down
inside yourself and pull up your deepest darkest
performance.
Now, I'm somewhat realistic; Dan went through an audition
and countless rehersals. If he wasn't cutting it they
would have made a change long ago. So, the worst I
expected was for Dan to be just OK or good, and to come
away a wiser, more experienced, more talented actor. I
think beyond breaking people's preception of him, that
is what Dan was trying to achieve. To have challenged
himself as an actor in the extreme, and to have come
away better for it. On all counts, he certainly
succeeded.
Just a few thoughts.
