"normal" as in what? As in "it happens everywhere 
all the time"? Or as in "it's well within the norm"?
I agree in the first case, but I contend that it all 
depends on what is identified as "the norm" in the 
second case.

Can you point me to a single animal species where 
life-long exclusive same-sex couples are "normal"?

First, you're going to offend quite a few 
practicioners of withcraft with that kind of talk. 
And second, no matter how unreasonable it may seem 
to you, I do think that homosexuality is still more 
controversial than withcraft. Arguing that it 
shouldn't be so is rather pointless.
