What's wrong with that? Most US roads are dark at night too, but someone 
who lives in a city might not expect it unless they thought about it for 
a minute. If you're used to roads that are either lit or get a decent 
amount of traffic, (in which case they're lit by everyone's headlights) 
a dark road can be surprising.
