Uh, who said DD wasn't celibate? The interview stated that he was a) 
gay and b) in love with Gellert Grindelwald.

Being a lesbian or gay man doesn't mean sexual activity necessarily, 
anymore than being a heterosexual man or woman does. 

JKR also says that the series is about tolerance and fighting 
oppression, and that's why some people don't like it.
