I find that just plain silly. Children are perfectly capable of
understanding the difference between fiction and reality. I have
three of them, and none of them would be moved to tears at the
"revelation" that Harry Potter is not real. Even the four year old
grasps that "Harry Potter" is really a boy called "Daniel Radcliffe"
dressed in a costume. Just like "Hannah Montana" is a girl called
"Miley Cyrus" dressed in a blond wig.
Any kid old enough to read the book is old enough to hear the shocking
news that it's a work of fiction.
