The scene in which Susan is describing seems to come from an episode
in which the lead Freak character (as opposed the lead Freak) is at a
 girl friends house.  You get the idea that there is a lot of verbal,
emotional abuse and perhaps neglect at the house.  It's hard to honor
those who hurt you.
