I work with youth. You might be surprised to know that many youth are
not aware of their surroundings, of who may be listening. Sometimes
I'll unintentionally hear conversations that I shouldn't hear as they
would get in trouble. I just look at them until they feel their being
watched. When they look at me, they know their busted.
The youth you come across (and by the way, where do you live that this
happens all the time?!) are prolly every bit as oblivious. Which is
why when you call them on it (yeah you! it takes a village!!!) they
are humbled.
