Again,  just everyone's own opinion...

I know for myself that I have created my own character, plot, 
action, outcomes, etc. and actually, having to fit my world 
into the constraints of someone else's makes it harder, more 
challenging to write.

Nothing I would put down would change what was already written 
by anyone else.  It would just make it more of a shock in a 
certain way.
