Geoff:
Not quite like Harry but I have mentioned these books a couple of
times before on the groups. They are set in the North of England
involving two non-magical children working with a wizard who is
connected to one of the legends of the area.
They are "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen" and a sequel "The Moon
of Gomrath" by Alan Garner. Written in the 1960s they are still in
print. You will find that some of the story reinds you of Tolkien
and Lewis in places because he draws on the same source material.
