Hmm--never used that phrase. If someone asks for me, I say "Speaking" when
I am in an office situation and, at home, I either use "Speaking" or "Yes,
this is Lee."
When I worked at Bell Labs, their protocol was Office-Title followed by
Person's Name, e.g., "Office Support, Lee Storm." No "Good morning" or
anything like that...just place and name.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm a-stickin' to it. :-)
