In 1976 (I think) Bill 101, one of the whopper French-language bills, came into being under the Parti Quebecois, the then-ruling provincial government party. I had started English elementary school just a few years earlier, so I was OK. I was born in Quebec but my parents immigrated from the Netherlands, so I'm not sure if I would have had to attend a French school had I been born a few years later.
