Speaking as an evangelical Christian, although I wouldn't quite use
your terminology, I would agree that I dislike a crucifix which is an
opinion also held by a majority of Christians other than Catholics and
high Anglicans because it presents the wrong view of our faith.
Christians believe that Jesus was God in human form and that, after
the crucifixion, he rose from the grave to demonstrate his power over
death and to offer salvation to men and women.
Hence, the crucifix marks an event now over and done with, which is why
most churches (and those Christians who choose to wear one) display
a plain cross without any adornment or representation of Christ.
