Carol adds:

I thought "flamboyant" and "eccentric." It seemed perfectly in keeping
with this taste in Wizard's robes, purple with gold stars and the
like. I always thought that JKR's model for the original descriptions
of DD was a kind of Disneyfied Merlin.

Carol, who would have liked to see the plum velvet suit in the film
version of HBP
