I don't know about Italian, but they translated it into Russian
correctly. I have no idea how it is now, but in my day they taught us
"British" English in Russia. If it is still the case, the translators
probably wouldn't even know what "pecker" means in "American" :-). I
myself only found out because of all the discussions about differences
between UK and US editions.
