Carol again:

So do I, sometimes. But the steam from the teakettle provides a touch
of added humidity to my dry apartment, and I use the heated water for
other things (like instant oatmeal--I can hear the groans from food
purists already!). And I don't add milk to my hot chocolate, so that
part doesn't matter to me.

Of course, the microwave does have another advantage. If you leave the
room and forget that you're heating the water, you won't start a fire!
I tend to be paranoid about things like that.

Carol, now hungry for hot chocolate with melted marshmallows
