Jen:  Cool!  I'd like to see these books in movie form because sometimes they were too busy for me with all the rushing here and there the kids do. I'm willing to give Columbus another try. :D  Thanks for the link.

Here in Austin our Book People bookstore puts on a Half-Blood Summer camp that's immensely popular.  Kids from all over the world sign up.  It seems like most of the boys in my son's class (5th next year) have read the series.  Plus the books have the bonus of cultivating a side interest in mythology.
