I don't think that is a valid analogy.
If you wrote a story with a paedophile as a character, that in no way implies
that you fit the category. After all, your story might well have a heavy drinker
or an obsessive stalker in it, none of which presumably fit you.
Your comment was:

With respect, I would argue that it had crossed your mind, otherwise you
wouldn't have made the comment.....
