Why not? I was always under impression that we can discuss on OTC anything we like - be it things about Harry Potter which does not directly discuss canon, or something completely unrelated to Harry Potter. :)

Very true, I can attest to bringing up to couple real life HP fans which I am friends with some things we discussed on Main and asking people if these things pull them out of the story and they were very amused. And they ARE critical thinkers, they just do not discuss every tiny detail of the stories as we do.

I agree with Zanooda, to me it works as their cover. I mean, I see what you are saying, but this is certainly something I can suspend disbelief and even to a degree understand.
