Right, and also, I think that emotionally this moment was very important to Harry. He had waited for so long to be able to finally come back to Godric's Hollow, his birthplace. I guess he just wanted to enter the village in a more dignified manner, even if no one could see them. He didn't want the fact that Hermione is stuck to his back to ruin the importance of the moment for him :-).
