Number One is to keep the main list open to anything related to Harry Potter & keep OTC open to anything not about Harry Potter, in case only the main list & movies list get combined. Number Two is in case, OTC does get closed as well as the movies list, then it's best to make the main list open to anyting about Harry Potter, but have the rules clearly state either on the homepage or in the list rules file that no OT posts are allowed. Any of those 2 options would be perfectly fine with me when the list elves decide on what to do with the groups.

Your preferences are pretty much opposite to mine. My biggest concern about combining the groups is that the Combined Group might be overwhelmed by movie discussions, in which I do not participate because I don't know anything about actors, directors, effects, and so on. Having heard that the Movie List has also become low volume somewhat alleviates my fear.

My biggest desire is that posts on Main List should be allowed to be OT, because so often a thought that started from canon leads to real-world ideas (like the current thread on whether TMR is a psychopath leading to discussion on DSM-IV). That is what I wish for, regardless whether OT also continues to exist as a separate group.
