Carol, who had to have her hard drive wiped because of a hoax anti-spyware program and is still struggling to catch up on work

Fortunately, all my docs and email was saved or salvageable. I hope you had your documents backed up. If not, I'm crying for you, friend.

Carol responds:
Yes, Thank goodness. My e-mail was still on Hotmail (though I don't even want to talk about the problems I had trying to reinstall Windows Live E-mail--I ended up settling for Outlook Express), and the computer company that wiped the hard drive saved the folders in My Documents first. I don't even want to think what would have happened if I'd had to start from scratch on the *three* projects that I was editing at the time.
By the way, I hope that your computer is okay now. You probably have the disks that you need to reinstall the operating system. I think that simply reinstalling it after saving your files will wipe the hard drive, but I had mine professionally wiped just to be sure.
Carol, who still hasn't reinstalled all her programs but at least has a lot more room now on her hard drive!
