Oops, also wanted to add that it's usage and it's synonym 'ballbuster' or 'ballbusting' have been around at least since my grandpa's time and he's in his 90's.  I've heard him and my uncles use 'ballbuster' could mean a bit of hard work, they also used it with a misogynistic connotation toward a woman.  Modern use doesn't seem to suggest that.
