Steve:

I don't know about your computer, but on mine the text editing window is using what appears to be a Courier New font. If you got to the Windows Character Map (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map, you will literally see the character map for selected fonts.

If you select a character with your mouse, it that character can be reproduced on the keyboard, you will see something like Alt+0211, and here is the character that combination produces "Ó".

I'm frequently on discussion board in Europe so I frequently need non-standard characters, so I've got a small list posted next to my computer of commonly needed characters.

To produce the character, hold down the ALT key, then while holding, press the number sequence on the number keypad; do NOT use the Plus sign, just ALT and the number sequence. It has to be the number keypad on the right, and not the numbers across the top.

ALT+0162 = ¢
ALT+0163 = £
ALT+177 = ±
ALT+0188 = ¼
ALT+0189 = ½

ALT+211 = Ó
ALT+241 = ñ
ALT+250 = ú

Not every letter in the font set can be reproduces in this manner, only the first 256 characters. And any character, up to that point, can be reproduced.

For example -

ALT+0049 = 1
ALT+0065 = A
ALT+0097 = a

Just passing it along.
