Note:
Over the last few days, off topic chatter on the groupHPforGrownUps in the thread “The Stephen Fry versions of the Potter books.” about British spelling occurred as well as off topic discussion about real-world cloaking devices and someone put an off topic file about British writing in the files. I know how to reconfigure the System-Wide SpellChecker for British Spelling,so decided to chimein. I had the courtesy to mark it as off topic and receive punishment for mine honesty. The listelf did suggest posting it here, so I do.

¡Hello!
¿How fare you?
Some of you have trouble fighting your spellcheckers. One can change the preferences of the spellchecker:
0thly, these instructions are for MacOSⅩ, but I am certain that one can change the preferences in other Unices and Windows in a similar way. Just do not give-up at the 0th step if you do not have a Utility called “SystemPreference”. Just look for your equivalent:
0. Open “SystemPreferences” or your comparable program.
1. Select “Languages & Text” or whatever your computer calls it.
2. The default on a MacIntosh for English typing is to treat all regional variations as acceptable (your defaults may vary).
3. One can change it to “Australian English”, “British English”, “Canadian English”, or “U.S. English” (your choices may vary).
4. Choose "British English" or the equivalent.
The details probably varied for many of you, but at this point, your System-Wide SpellChecker uses British English.
Spaniards came up with this great innovation called in vertex punctuation. It allows one to write inverted ¡ExclamationPoint!, ¿QuestionMarks?, and ⸘Interrobangs‽. Some English-Speaking writers refuse to use them because they were not invented in England. My response to that is that these writers should not use the _“*LATIN*”_ alphabet for writing because it is Romantic —— ¡not English! On a MacIntosh, just select “Special Characters” from the Menu “Edit” This will probably vary on different types of computers, but I am certain that your computer has a way to do it).
¡Peace!
