The Crone is the ruling archetype in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In myths and folktales, a Crone watches over the hero during childhood, but the Crone isn't any old woman. The Crone is a conduit between worlds, and a male character who is an archetypal Crone is one of the key figures in the Harry Potter series. Maiden, Mother and Crone are a whole just as the Deathly Hallows are a whole; Harry understanding the Crone makes him a whole person and, ultimately, Master of Death.
