Are you nuts? I thought it was great. I am a Star Trek *and* a science
fiction fan, although not to the "no life" extent, and the accuracy with
which fandom was portrayed was devastating.

The acting was pretty good too--better from Tim Allen than I expected,
like him though I do--and I still think one of the best "Snape" keys for
what to expect from Alan Rickman is the scene where his character, Alexander
Dane, is holding his alien assistant who is dying, and makes that "by Graptar's
hammer,...you will be avenged" speech. He speaks so softly and gently,
but with such purpose and emotion. I think a lot of Snape's lines will
be delivered that way.

All in all, GalaxyQuest had the "feel" of a movie where the actors were
having fun, and I didn't go in expecting great literature, just some fun,
so I liked it. Nor was I particularly an Alan fan at that time. I actually
just happened to rent GalaxyQuest and Dogma at the same time, not knowing
he was in either one, and promptly got hooked.
