Hello all,

The only thing I saw recently was in a bookshop,
some little notebooks with pics of "Harry" in front. I didn't see games or other
HP-related stuff. Now I know that I live in a small town in the Netherlands, and
I can blame this on the size of the town and of course for the fact that we,
Dutch people, are a bit too down to earth. But sometimes I'm wondering, isn't HP
being taken over by (hostile) commerce?

-

"Got a question for you--has anyone played the
board game
Quidditch? Doug & I bought it, brought it home, &
played it
tonight. It's soconfusing that we couldn't even
finish."

"On the same note, I have heard that the "Mystery at Hogwarts"
was
equally hard to play...hmmm...were they even tested with
children?"

"Mystery at Hogwarts" is very difficult - like Cluedo but
slightly
more complicated. Our youngest, who is 8, found it too hard
to grasp
the first time and now has to play in a team with someone
else. It
isn't ideal. The trivia game is excellent though -
especially if you
get the
prefect edition. The whole thing is
beautiful, especially as there
aren't any character pictures to spoil
it."

Where is all this merchandise coming from?? I've seen only a
tiny
fraction of all the stuff that's been mentioned in my local WB store
(which, btw, is right across from a Disney Store - the staff can
throw
things at one another across the atrium in the middle of the
mall) ... but
anyway. I have a feeling a lot of it simply isn't
available in the
UK, and never will be, if they're really going
through with this threat to
close all the Studio Stores (my local has
already cut its trading space in
half - and last year was getting by
running Pokemon trading sessions on
Saturday mornings) we won't ever
get to see half of it.

Question -
isn't this slightly unfair. They're British books after
all ... why
aren't we getting all this cool stuff?

Or am I missing something
fundamental here ...

Oh well ... the only thing I actually want out of
that rather
lacklustre collection is the Platform 9 3/4 bookends.
All the rest
is shoddy corporate bully-boy type art. Still, it
*would* be nice to
be able to see it.

Al
*where schnoogling
happens a lot, and we think Nancy Stouffer is hot*

To
