[HPFGU-Texas] Texas in August

It's not the heat, as they say, and it's not a coincidence that both Humidity and Houston start with the same letter.

There are other hazards, too, in the central Texas summer. I remember July 4th fireworks at Landa Park in New Braunfels. It wasn't *too* uncomfortable sitting on the grass after the sun had gone down, except for the inescapable swarms of teeny white insects (what *are* those @#$%!! little things, anyway?). It was quite a memorable event when one went up your nose or decided to play a solo on your eardrum. You hoped that if (when!) one went in your mouth, it would go straight down your esophagus -- better to swallow it than to have it buzzing around in your lung.

Ah, but it's hard to beat memories of mellorine - root beer floats, roasting ears fresh picked from the field, or the University Tower glowing Orange on a still-warm October night.
