Traveling to Austin

My principal just announced that any 4th or 5th grade student with 100
Accelerated Reader points by November 13 can take a school sponsored
trip to Kerrville to see a special early showing of the movie just for
our school. Then she sent me a copy of the travel request (request
for the transportation) where it listed "two aids from the AR lab, one
fourth grade teacher, and Jo Crabtree." Another fifth grade teacher
that I got started on Harry Potter asked the principal what it would
take for her to get to go. She told her that every student in her room
had to have the points to go. She also tells everyone that you should
have read all of the books at least twice. Now the other teacher is
still reading POA for the first time. It is exciting that she is
hooked now. She started reading them because I taunted her into it.
Ah, the rewards of enthusiasm. I need to keep my students reading. How
would it look if she got all of her class to 100 each and I didn't.

I had already promised my senior daughter that we would go together
for the first showing. Now she is upset that I am going to see it
before her. Junction is about an hour from Kerrville so we will see
the movie about 11:00 then eat and come back to Junction. I will have
to turn right around and go back to Kerrville with Marcia to see it
with her. I think my husband is meeting us there for that show. He
works in Fredricksburg.

Although I would like nothing better than to see it again on Saturday,
I'm not that sure I want to drive to Austin any more. I have to go to
Austin this weekend for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I think it's
about three hours from here.

I've said all of this to say that I may not be able to come after all.
I want to keep it as a possibility but not a promise. It would have to
be on Saturday if I could come.

Jo
