I live in Junction, which is about two hours west of San Antonio. However, out here if we want to eat at Red Lobster we drive the two hours. Distance is relative to the situation. I have ordered my OotP at Hastings in Kerrville so I will be picking it up there - one less hour to wait to start reading. Did I lead you to believe I ordered a book? To be honest, my daughter (19) convinced me that there was no way we could both read the same book at the same time, so the plan was to order two. On the way to Hastings with my husband to order them, he convince me that there was no way for all three of us to read the same book at the same time - yes, you guessed it - three. And that's only because they let us pile up the stray books and leave them for the morning crew to deal with, rather than make us put them all away like we usually do at the end of the night. We just had to straighten up and collect the strays. >>>>>> Haha! Okay, now *that's* tolerable. > We don't know yet quite how they'll handle the details for this one. We'll find out more as we get closer to June.... >>>> Yep, I called one of the B&Ns here in SA, asking about midnight sale plans, what it will sell for, and if there was any chance it would go on sale in the US at midnight UK time. ;-) He told me every store should be having the midnight sale, that it will sell for about 30% less than list price, and he actually laughed at me about the 'midnight in UK' thing: "Hahaha, oh no, hahaha, it will be midnight *here*, hahaha..." Oh well. :-) > As long as I get to take my book home with me, and figure out a way to have the next day off from work, I'll be happy. ;-} >>>> Heh, exactly! --Kelley From blessedbrian at blessedbrian.yahoo.invalid Tue Apr 1 12:47:26 2003 From: blessedbrian at blessedbrian.yahoo.invalid (Brian Cordova) Date: Tue, 01 Apr 2003 12:47:26 -0000 Subject: Moving On Up! Message-ID: Hey, fellow Texans, I pulled this URL off the Cauldron. B.K.DeLong posted it, and it's an organizer thing where people register for meet- ups on things they're interested in. This is set up for the OoP release. Lacking a better way to organize the San Antonio folks, I thought I'd throw you the URL. Or go over to the Cauldron and read about it. http://orderphoenix.meetup.com/ From BornOfMoonAndSea at bornofmoonandsea.yahoo.invalid Sun Jun 8 05:01:40 2003 From: BornOfMoonAndSea at bornofmoonandsea.yahoo.invalid (Tracy) Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2003 05:01:40 -0000 Subject: Houston (or nearby) Order of Phoenix release events? A restaurant will be transformed into the Leaky Cauldron and a bookstore will become Flourish and Blotts. There will be a llok alike contest and pin the tail on the pheonix, amongst other things. Look it up if your close enough to the area. They are having a release party on Friday for OotP. It starts at 10:00 p.m. and there will be several activities, most of them for kids. They will be doing a reading of the last chapter of GoF at 11:30 p.m. They've ordered 1,200 books and already have 1,000 reserved (and one of those is mine!) and they're going to have a "drive through" in front of the store for people who reserved copies, starting at midnight. I know it's going to be a madhouse, I'm thinking about going over there straight from work, and just hanging out at the bookstore until midnight ... or is that just too freaky? Oh, and I think they have a band. If anyone in the DFW area wants to join me there, let me know and we can try to meet up. As a result, I'm getting to help decorate and I'm going to be doing characterature drawings. I'm also geuranteed a book and it's free. I'd still ask if you could help at all at you local bookstore--you never know. I'm about to go insane waiting and I think it will help me to be doing something constructive during those last few hours. The Barnes and Noble party I'll be at starts at 8pm with Hagrid and Harry arriving on a motorcycle. There'll be trivia (O.W.L.S. for kids and N.E.W.T.S. for the adults), and a magician. If anyone shows up, I'll be the wierd witch drawing people. :-P Stephanie --- Elizabeth wrote: > Just got off the phone with Borders in Old Town > (Lovers & > Greenville).
