It did move VERY fast.
It was nearly 2 and a half hours but it did not seem like it at all.
Some people have complained about some extra scenes and stuff added in but
none of that bothered me as much as what was left out.
And I felt the scenes with the whomping willow to show the passage of time
were very well done and didn't detract at all.

Yep, that's exactly how I would describe it. It was an amazing movie,
especially if you never read the book or haven't read it recently
enough that the inconsistencies and omissions of the movie were
glaringly obvious.

It's been a while since I read POA, and I really didn't think of all
the omissions and inconsistencies until after the movie, when we were
on our way home and all chatting about it in the car. And even
realizing all of that, I still want to go back and see it again.

My only complaint about the movie itself, as a stand-alone, is that
it moved VERY fast. I went to see it in the wee hours of the morning
following a long evening at an arts/crafts event, and my poor tired
brain just couldn't keep up in some places.
