If the "Do Not Disturb" sign is off of the door then there is 
something back there.  It may look empty, but it is not.  Some people 
have difficulty getting the clues that are there if they don't empty 
their cache files on their computer.  I know that stopped a friend of 
mine at first.

The initial time the door opened it showed a brick wall.  Some people 
were able to put 2 & 2 together with Hagrid's entering Diagon Alley 
and just started randomly searching the bricks for the ones to hit.  
Then it was just a matter of more patience searching the space for 
the light.

This last time, I have no idea how anyone figured it out.  I saw the 
excerpt because I used instructions I found on another site, maybe 
HP4GU, maybe somewhere else.  I don't recall.  But to my quickly 
aging mind, it was impossible without the steps being given to me.  I 
would seriously like to know how the first person figured out they 
had to wait for Peeves on the "Extra Stuff" page!  Certainly it was 
someone much more knowledgeable about computers than I am... though 
that doesn't really narrow the field much.

Unfortunately, I think the door is now locked.  Hopefully it will 
be "disturbable" again soon.
