furthering from what all of you have said about the realism mixed with
the fantasy in the story, Harry Potter appeals to me because of a few
things - the story is a brilliant story, but importantly, is told very
very well. there is drama, action, and lots of wit aswell. Fred and
George are constant providers of amusement. the story twists and turns,
and doesnt drag out on one thing for too long, yet goes into adequate
detail about something, like a quidditch game, and you feel you are 'in'
the story.
Also the whole theme of the story is of course, good versus evil. because
the story is given off so well, this theme is an appealing one. I mean,
look at star wars - the same good versus evil, heroes and villians,
and good action along the way. this is what appeals to people. and the
fact that the goodies dont come off well all the time. Harry had a bad
time when people thought he was the heir of Slytherin in book 2 - and
of course this makes the whole story more realistic.
