I think that a really good Snape would be John Malkovich. Think of the
way that his eyes get when he's trying to display an intense emotion
and then think: "Weasley! Potter!" It fits so well. I agree that a
great Dumbledore would be Anthony Hopkins. How about Hagrid? I think
that someone like Arnold Schwartzenegger would indeed be awesome but it
would be EXTREMELY hard for him to cop a Cockny accent. I bet you'll all
laugh but I was flipping channels on Monday night and one of those stupid
wrestling shows was on and one of the characters was about seven feet
tall and had long hair. I wish I knew what his name was, damn he would
have been great. I am a grad student at Niagara Universtiy and we have
discussed how reading these wonderful books out loud can help increase
a child's literacy geometrically, especially because of the media blitz
following the release of the third book and that many kids are familiar
with the book and the story line which will access their precognitive
knowledge. I was troubled by the anti-Potters. I can't believe how the
religious fanatics have once again have ruined a great story for many
children by giving them the impression that the book is evil. I wonder
what people would have said if Susan Cooper or C.S. Lewis were still
publishing today. The Dark is Rising has a great Merlin/Dumbledore
character in it by the way. This is a great club, glad I joined.
