Hi:

Actually Lisa -- Black only said that he used Harry's name but arranged
that the gold be taken from his (Black's) vault -- 711. He doesn't
mention anything about his vault being next to Harry's vault.

What was (still is) somewhat confusing to me was how Gringotts was
satisfied that Harry was entitled to gold from Black's vault. On another
HP listserve, people offered up various suggestions: maybe Harry was
listed on Black's vault since Black was his guardian, or maybe Black
included a key or password with the order to Gringotts and that was good
enough for Gringotts.

I also think there must have been an intervening step (between
the gold being taken from Vault 711 and the Firebolt arriving at
Christmas). Crookshanks took a note to the owlery that instructed
Gringotts to remove a certain sum in gold from Vault 711 and the note
was signed in Harry's name. Assuming that Harry was listed on the account
or that Black provided some sort of key or password, Gringotts took the
gold and sent it to _____ (where)? Did Crookshanks intercept the gold that
would have gone to Harry and take it to Black, who then sent Crookshanks
with another note to Quality Quidditch Supplies? Or, did the gold go
directly to Quality Quidditch Supplies, and if so, why did the Firebolt
arrive as a Christmas present rather than in ordinary owl post to Harry?

So many questions . . .
