Maybe we can find a way to have interested members sign up, and the
selections can be made from that list. Or the list can simply go in
order. That way, we're not leaving anyone out.

For example, we may not think to choose a newbie who hasn't been in the
group long enough to become a regular. There may also be lurkers who
haven't had much to contribute to the discussions, but would love to
participate in some round-robin fanfic.
