generated. It has never been clear where it came from. But Mrs. Weasley
was clearly peeling potatos, not creating them magically, so someone has
to grow it somehow. Besides, reference is made by Hagrid in 2 about the
pumpkins he is growing and the slugs on the school cabbage

I had been under the impression that the food was magically generated
too, especially the food for the meals and feasts at Hogwarts. But,
as we saw in GoF, the kitchen house-elves prepare the food and it is
only transported to the above tables magically.
