I think you're right they married right out of school, but they probably
both finished. JKR speaks of Percy 'leaving school' and Oliver Wood
'leaving school', so she doesn't mean 'drop out' when she says that.

As for how old they were when Harry came along, Lupin is described as
'young' when Harry is thirteen. if James and Lily were 21 when they had
Harry, then Lupin would be about 34-35 at the time Harry met him. [That's
why I disagree with some of the casting choices for the HP movie people
make, because a lot of the actors they propose are too old]
