I can confirm this. I am 39 and I was in the same year at Hogwarts. I
was, in fact the forgotten fifth member of the marauders - Horny. The
reason this fact is so little known is that I decided not to become an
Animagus; instead, I took an unusual and alienating decision - I became
a Mechanimagus.
The Weasleys never knew this about me, but now I have relocated to the
Forbidden Forest I can switch between my human and Mechanimagus forms
without fear of discovery.
