<Are any parents concerned that the series may be turning a bit too
violent?>
I have mixed feelings on this one. I think it depends on the child
and what they're used to reading. When my daughter was 5 I read her
"The Hobbit". She loved it, and insisted on hearing "Lord of the Rings"
when she was 6. Obviously some of it was beyond her, but she thoroughly
enjoyed it, and at 17 it is still one of her favourites. I would have to
say that we are each the best judge of what our children can understand
and deal with (and if they don't like the book, or find it frightening,
they'll let us know).
