I suppose that parents so wildly careless as to name their baby Remus
Lupin in a universe in which 'nominative determinism' is at work, could
also be so wildly careless as to name their two children after siblings
one of whom killed the other! Why not just name them Abel and Cain and
get it over with?

In my world of pure speculation, Remus's parents had a career that
involved living in a series of foreign countries (I said, running hotels
for Shepherded Tours, a company that provides package tours that are
a little piece of Britain for wizarding tourists who want to see the
famous tourist attractions without having to deal with foreigners, but
later I wondered: why don't they just Apparate?) and had a first baby
while living in Rome, so they named him Romulus, but he died of SIDS,
so they named the next one Remus as a memorial ...
